The Currier & Ives Foundation.
An attractive and informative site. This site includes a detailed history of Currier & Ives and 
a print gallery. The Currier & Ives Foundation is "dedicated to preserving historic lithographs 
produced by the firm "N. Currier" and "Currier & Ives."
 
Color printing in the nineteenth century.
This is a fine web site about an exhibit at the University of Delaware. Well worth a visit.
 
Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco
Includes over 60,000 images available for viewing.

A very ambitious project striving to become a gallery of pictures of every known print done

The Prints, Drawings and Photographs Division
This division of the National Gallery has its own page, which features an exhibition entitled Selections from John James Audubon's The Birds of America (1827-1838).

Object Lessons: Scenographia Americana

This article by John E. Crowley, appearing on common-place.org, provides information on the Scenographia Americana published in London in 1768.  This portfolio contains important views of America made by British topographical artists and engravers.  There is an extensive bibliography.

Smithsonian American Art Museum
Another fine museum site.

An excellent virtual exhibition on print collecting at the Smithsonian by the National Museum of American History.

National Portrait Gallery.
This superb collection includes many historical prints.

New York Public Library - Print Collection

Sacred Spaces
An exhibition and catalogue, Sacred Spaces: Building and Remembering Sites of Worship in the Nineteenth Century, sponsored jointly by the American Antiquarian Society and the College of the Holy Cross in 2002. The exhibition included 30 - 40 works on paper drawn primarily from the American Antiquarian Society.
 
Tamarind Institute (University of New Mexico)
 
Tamarind is both an outstanding center for contemporary American lithography and the host of a lithographic archive. The website includes a page describing the process of lithography.

Texas Bird's-Eye Views (Amon Carter Museum)

Darley, F.O.C.
 
Website highlighting the work of Felix Octavius Carr Darley (1821-1888).  Called by some the "Father of American Illustration," Darley helped shape national identity in the 19th century.
